Frequently Asked Questions – Guitar Lessons Novi

How much do guitar lessons cost in Novi?

Guitar lesson rates vary based on lesson length and package options. Contact Steven directly at 248-866-0935 for current pricing and package options. Weekly lessons ensure consistent progress and are recommended for all students.

How far is the guitar studio from Novi?

The studio is located in Farmington Hills on the border of Novi, just off Grand River Avenue. Most Novi residents are within 5-15 minutes of the studio. It’s easily accessible from anywhere in Novi via Grand River, 8 Mile, or 10 Mile roads.

What age students do you teach?

Steven teaches students ages 7 through adults of all ages. Young children (7-10) typically start with 30-minute lessons, while older students and adults usually take 60-minute lessons. It’s never too late to learn guitar!

Do I need my own guitar to start lessons?

Yes, you’ll need a guitar to practice at home. Steven can provide guidance on selecting an appropriate instrument for your age, size, and musical goals. For beginners, a quality student model is recommended – avoid very cheap guitars that are difficult to play and discourage practice.

Do you offer online guitar lessons for Novi students?

Yes! About half of Steven’s students take online lessons via video conferencing. Online lessons work great for adults and motivated students. However, in-person lessons are recommended for younger beginners (under 12) when possible.

What guitar method do you use?

For classical guitar, Steven uses the Royal Conservatory of Music method books, which provide a comprehensive, proven curriculum. For electric and acoustic guitar, Steven uses a combination of methods tailored to each student’s goals and musical interests while ensuring proper technique and theory fundamentals.

How long until I can play songs?

Most students learn simple songs within the first few weeks! However, playing more complex pieces requires developing proper technique and understanding music fundamentals. Progress depends on practice consistency – students who practice 20-30 minutes daily see much faster results than those who only practice once or twice a week.

What if I’ve been stuck and not progressing?

Many students come to Steven after hitting a plateau with self-teaching or other methods. Professional instruction helps you break through barriers by identifying technique issues, filling knowledge gaps, and providing structured progression. Steven’s university-level training helps diagnose and fix problems that hold guitarists back.
